MOCHE ROUTE PRIVATE TOURS

Peru´s Northern Coast witnessed the development of many advanced cultures, including the Moche, Lambayeque and Chimu civilizations which preceded the Incas.
The Moche Culture
was an extraordinary civilization. This Moche Culture was at the same time of the Maya Culture. They were skilled ceramists and their famous portrait pots showed in detail persons, animals and the fruits they ate. Their vessels painted with rituals, sacrifices and depictions of war have enabled reserchers to reconstruct the Moche culture in detail. In Huaca Rajada 1987, a Peruvian archaeology Walter Alva, was told by the policemen that some Huaqueros (looters) found some impresive gold and silver figures. Walter, followed the trail of the huaqueros and discovered and Amazingly Rich Royal Tomb. These finds have been compared to the Tutankhamen in Egypt. The body of the Lord of Sipan was found with luxurious ornaments. Exquisite gold and silver and turquoise ornaments, sucha as crowns, necklaces, earrings and bracelets adorn his body. His hands hold gold and copper ingots, a gold rattle in one and a copper knife in the other.
Lambayeque Culture (Sican). Sican, In the native language means House of the Moon. Japanese archaeologist Izumi Shimada, current Director of the Sican project and professor at the University of Illinois, began excavation in this area in 1978. According to Dr. Shimada, one of the most outstanding aspects of the sican culture was their technological and teir large-scale industrial production. In only one tomb, half a ton of "Tumbaga" (an alloy of gold and copper) must have taken approximately 50,000 man hours of work. The Tumi (the famous ceremonial knives) belongs to this culture.
Chimu Culture, were the finest metal workers in ancient America. Their vast production includes idols, masks, garments, and decorative objects in silver and gold inlaid with precious stones, such as earrings, bracelets, breastplates and sandals, as well as utilitarian objects such as tweezers and drinking vessels.
